Twelve new Plaxton Interurban bodied Javelins were delivered during December 1994. In November 1995 three with Duple bodies were acquired from White's, Calver. These were withdrawn in September 1998, passing to Circle Line, Gloucester.
Further acquisitions came in December 1999 when twelve more with Plaxton bodies came from a number of other Stagecoach companies.
Generally, the Javelins were not popular and the opportunity to withdraw them came in early 2001 when the whole lot were exchanged for Volvo saloons from Burnley & Pendle before Stagecoach Ribble (East Lancashire Bus Company) passed to Blazefield.

Under Stagecoach, the double decker fleet became very interesting with transfers coming in from a number of companies.
Leyland Titans from East London and Selkent, Volvo Olympians from Selkent, Bristol VRs from Cambus (Viscount), East Midland and Ribble. Leyland Atlantean AN68s from Greater Manchester Buses South and Tyne & Wear Busways. To add to the interest, many of these were still in their respective pre-Stagecoach liveries.

Red & White's owners, Western Travel, sold out to Stagecoach in December 1993.
On 22nd December 1997, the operations and vehicles of Porth based Rhondda Buses were acquired. The fleet was renumbered into the Red & White series and traded as Stagecoach Rhondda.
In January 2001, it was announced that the UK Bus Division of Stagecoach was introducing a new livery, logo and trading names. Stagecoach in South Wales became the new trading name for Stagecoach Red & White and Stagecoach Rhondda.
During 4th & 5th January 2003, the fleet was renumbered into the new Stagecoach universal system. Photos taken after that date will be in the Stagecoach in South Wales gallery.
Thanks for visiting these collections. I hope you found it interesting. |
